Here’s some interesting facts about American country musician and actor and South Carolina native Josh Turner. Born Joshua Otis “Josh” Turner on November 20, 1977, as a young boy, he participated in his church choir, singing the lead and bass parts. A devout Christian, he formed a gospel quartet known as the Thankful Hearts where his role was to sing bass and sometimes lead. In 1996 a physician discovered that Turner had developed a lesion on his right vocal cord. Although surgery was not necessary, he was required to rest his voice for an entire year.

It was during this time that Josh Turner learned how to whistle, picked up classical vocal techniques as well as how to take care of his voice to avoid problems in the future. Once his voice had healed, Turner moved to Nashville, Tennessee to pursue a music career at Belmont University. At Belmont, Turner took part in a classical training vocal program. It was there that he met and married his wife Jennifer who plays piano and the background singer in Turner’s road band.

So far Josh Turner has released four studio albums with MCA Nashville Records. The title track to his 2003 Long Black Train album is known as his breakthrough release. His first Number One hits include “Your Man” and “Would You Go With Me.” His 2010 album Haywire has produced his hugest hit with the #1 chart topper “Why Don’t We Just Dance.” All of his singles with the exception of just one has reached the top 40 of the Billboard Country music chart.
